Letter from the President

Hello! My name is Sarah Goosey, and I am the Chapter President of Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi here at Transylvania University.

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded in 1897 at Barnard College, where four women came together to create an organization of lifetime sisterhood regardless of one’s religion, socio-economic status, and ethnicity.

Living up to the history of the founding of Alpha Omicron Pi, we strive to be accepting and united through our submotto: Tolerance and Oneness. We are a diverse group of individually unique women that are united under our shared passion for sisterhood and empowerment of ourselves and others around us.

We also strive to empower the greater community through philanthropy. Each year, we host three events to raise funds to donate to our national philanthropy, the Arthritis Foundation. Our members also dedicate tens of hours to serving the community through their individual service to organizations in Lexington and beyond. The chapter frequently participates in other Greek organizations’ philanthropy events to further serve the community.

I can confidently say that choosing to join Alpha Omicron Pi helped me to become the woman I am today, and the chapter still offers the support I need to become a better leader and a better person. College is a difficult experience with unexpected challenges. Through every trial and tribulation I’ve faced, my sisters were there to readily support me.

It is my hope that as you get to know us, you will be inspired by our love and ambition, and in turn, you will inspire and empower others.

Roses,

Sarah Goosey
